Hormel Slow Simmered Beef Tips & Gravy
Rating
Serves: 4
Calories: 405
- 1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Garlic Olive Oil
- ½ of a medium yellow onion, diced
- ½ cup Marsala cooking wine
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 1 package Hormel Slow Simmered Beef Tips & Gravy
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste (Gourmet Garden Garlic)
- 3 tablespoons Hunt's tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- ½ to 1 teaspoon Better Than Bouillon Beef Base
- ½ cup fat free half and half
- 15 ounces Kirkland (Costco) 5 Cheese Tortelloni (or use your favorite Buitoni Ravioli)
- Fresh basil (optional)
- Saute onion in olive oil until translucent. Add marsala cooking wine and allow alcohol to cook off. Add beef tips and use a wooden spoon to break into smaller pieces. Add remaining ingredients except the pasta and cook for 5 to 10 minutes for the flavors to come together.
- Boil tortelloni per package instructions and add them directly to the sauce when finished cooking. The extra pasta cooking water will help thicken the sauce, but if it's too thin, make a slurry of cornstarch in chicken broth and whisk in to thicken (see below). Garnish with basil cut in ribbons.

Oh my goodness I made this last night & it was phenomenal!!! I made some adaptations since I only had New York strip steaks at home & I made it in my insta pot. I seasoned my steak as I normally do & used the sautée button on my insta pot. I browned it to a darker brown & then removed. I added the sweet onion & basil. Once cooked down I added my marshal wine (not the cooking wine) that I searched & found by the dessert wines. I then added my beef stock, bay leaf & water. I high pressure cooked that for fifteen minutes to fuse all the flavors together. I then sautéed my mushrooms & added the tomatoes. To avoid an extra step I made my gravy base by simply mixing my flour with a little water but had added the extra butter when I sautéed my mushrooms. I added it all together & lastly added the pre cooked steak when serving. Yummy!!! Definitely better than Olivie Garden! Thank you so much for sharing.
